What it is
A device patented in Budapest for a stationary engine that sprays liquid fuel into an airstream and mixes it before intake. It solves in a similar way the problem Maybach tackled months later.
The spray carburettor is usually credited to Maybach (patent of August 1893); the Bánki–Csonka patent is from February that year, six months earlier. The 'Spray carburettor' entry already exists in the catalogue under Maybach.
What it led to
- more efficient petrol engines, the basis of carburettors in the following decades
- the Bánki–Csonka stationary engine
- adoption in Hungarian and Austrian industry
