What it is
The bromoil process is a fine-art photographic printing method that bleaches a silver-bromide print and then impregnates it with oil-based pigments, allowing manual intervention in the image. It was developed by Edward John Wall and Charles Welborne Piper, and was widely used by pictorialist photographers in the first half of the 20th century.
