What it is
Fully spring-suspended transmission system for electric locomotives, with an individual motor per floating axle disconnected from the weight of the driving wheels, enabling larger, more powerful motors at higher speeds.
What it led to
- faster, more powerful European electric locomotives in the 1920s
- reduced track wear from lower unsprung mass
- adoption on Swiss and other Alpine railways
- influence on later electric-traction transmissions
