What it is
An alphabet created in 1962 to write the Kayah languages of the Karen family, replacing scripts from other peoples. It was encoded in Unicode and is one of the 20th-century scripts for minority peoples of Myanmar.
Attribution to Htae Bu Phae and the 1962 date come from secondary linguistic sources; there are variants (Kayah Li and Latin) used in Kayah State.
