⚠️ Disputed: the sources disagree.
What it is
Parachute folded into a backpack with a rip-cord opening, carried by the pilot. It turned the emergency jump into routine military practice.
Kotelnikov patented it in France in 1912; the date of the first jump from an aeroplane (Berry, 1912) is disputed with Grant Morton (1911).
