What it is
For reasons of mathematical symmetry, Chua predicted the existence of a fourth fundamental circuit element relating electric charge to magnetic flux, and named it the memristor. Thirty-seven years later, a team at HP Labs built the first real memristor from a 50-nanometre titanium dioxide film, confirming the theoretical prediction.
