⚠️ Disputed: the sources disagree.
What it is
A series of small computers for engineers, with microprogramming and a high-level language, produced in the USSR from 1964. It was promoted as one of the first near-«personal» machines.
The claim that it was «the first personal computer» is disputed: it was a costly desktop minicomputer, years before machines for personal use. Dates vary between 1962 (design) and 1964-1965 (production).
What it led to
- the Nairi-2, -3 and -4 series used in science and industry in the USSR
- the Armenian computing hub (Yerevan Institute, 1956)
- forerunners of the Armenian software industry
