What it is
In December 1910 Claude demonstrated the first sealed neon tube that produced light when an electric discharge was applied, using neon his company Air Liquide had been obtaining as a byproduct of air liquefaction since 1902. He patented the electrode design in 1915 and held a commercial monopoly until the 1930s.
