What was discovered
Viñes studied the structure of cyclones through high clouds, pressure and wind, and issued the first observation-based hurricane warning in 1875. He formulated laws governing the circulation and paths of Caribbean hurricanes.
Viñes was a Catalan Jesuit based in Cuba.
