What was discovered
The laws of mechanics are the same in every uniformly moving system; no experiment inside a ship can reveal its motion. It is the answer to the objection against the Earth's motion and the first symmetry principle in physics.
Set out in the 'Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems' (1632).
