What it is
Clocks derived from European mechanical ones, adapted to unequal hours that varied with the season, using two foliots or dials with movable numerals. It is an original adaptation of clockmaking to a different time system.
The first clocks arrived with the Jesuits in 1551; double-foliot models date from the 17th century.
