What was discovered
The Krein–Milman theorem, in functional analysis, states that every compact convex set in a locally convex topological vector space equals the closed convex hull of its extreme points, generalizing to infinite dimensions the fact that a triangle is the convex hull of its three vertices. It was proved by Mark Krein and David Milman in 1940.
