What was discovered
A list of seven problems, each with a million-dollar prize: P versus NP, the Riemann hypothesis, the Poincaré conjecture, Navier-Stokes, Yang-Mills, Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer, and the Hodge conjecture. Heirs to Hilbert's problems as the agenda of the 21st century.
Perelman turned down the prize in 2010.
What it led to
- Perelman's proof (the only one solved)
- public attention to mathematics
