What it is
A synchronised adaptor of red, green and blue filter discs for transmitting colour images, patented in Mexico (1940) and the United States (1942). He later devised the simplified two-colour system used in the 1960s.
Peter Goldmark (CBS) developed an almost identical field-sequential system in 1940; the compatible NTSC standard eventually prevailed.
What it led to
- experimental colour broadcasts in Mexico
- colour television cameras on NASA missions (field-sequential principle)
