What it is
The Unibus is one of the earliest computer bus designs, developed by Digital Equipment Corporation for the PDP-11 minicomputers and early VAX systems, allowing the CPU, memory and peripherals to share a single unified bus.
What it led to
- unified bus architecture in minicomputers
- standard peripheral design for PDP-11 and VAX
- influence on later system buses
- simplification of DEC hardware design
