What it is
A cube of dehydrated bouillon with salt, fat and extracts that dissolves in hot water. Maggi launched it in 1908 after selling dehydrated legume soups and seasoning from 1886.
Knorr (1873) and Liebig/Oxo (1910) marketed soups and cubes almost simultaneously; the date is that of Maggi's cube, although the product evolved over the decade.
